Encore by Wynn
In 2026, Encore is generally viewed as the slightly better overall experience — larger suites, Encore Beach Club, and a vibe that feels a touch more current. Wynn still wins on prestige and classic luxury. It's very close.
"The gold standard for Strip luxury — impeccable rooms, the best casino service on the Strip, and a prestige that no other property has matched. Encore may have the edge on pure experience in 2026, but Wynn still owns the name."
Overall Rating
Wynn Las Vegas opened in April 2005 on the site of the Desert Inn and immediately reset the standard for what a Las Vegas resort could be. Steve Wynn had already built Mirage and Bellagio — both of which were considered the best in Vegas when they opened. Wynn was his third attempt at the title, and it may be his best.
The rooms are the best on the Strip. The pool is the best on the Strip. The casino is the best on the Strip. The dining — Lakeside, Wing Lei, Cipriani — is exceptional. The service is the best on the Strip. The Wynn is the only resort in Vegas where every category is either the best or tied for the best. The trade-offs are the price (you will pay for this) and the location (north Strip, which means you are walking or taking a rideshare to center Strip dining and nightlife).
If money is not the primary constraint, the Wynn is the correct answer to "where should I stay in Vegas?"
The Wynn offers free self-parking to all guests — a rarity on the Strip where most resorts charge $15–25/day. This is a meaningful cost savings for guests with cars.
The Wynn pool complex is the best on the Strip. Five pools, excellent cabanas, attentive service, and a sophisticated vibe. If pool quality matters to you, the Wynn is the answer.
The Wynn sits on the site of the Desert Inn, one of the most exclusive early Vegas resorts. Howard Hughes lived in the penthouse for four years before buying the property in 1967. The Desert Inn was demolished in 2001 to make way for the Wynn.
The Wynn is at the northern end of the Strip's main cluster. You are walking distance from Encore, Resorts World, and Fontainebleau, but center Strip dining and nightlife (Cosmo, Bellagio, Caesars) is a 15–20 minute walk or a $10–15 rideshare. Budget for this.
The Wynn and Encore are connected by an indoor walkway. In summer, this means you can move between the two properties entirely through air-conditioned space. The Encore Beach Club is also accessible via covered walkways.
The best standard rooms on the Strip. The 2022 renovation updated all rooms with contemporary finishes, floor-to-ceiling windows, and exceptional bedding. The bathrooms are large with soaking tubs and separate showers. The views are excellent from upper floors. Noise is well-controlled. This is what a luxury hotel room should feel like.
The Wynn pool complex is the best on the Strip. Five pools, excellent cabanas, attentive service, and a vibe that is sophisticated rather than party-oriented. The Encore Beach Club is the party pool (cover charges, big-name DJs). The main Wynn pools are for hotel guests who want to relax. Seasonal — typically March through October.
How this resort holds up in peak Vegas summer (June–September)
Wynn's pool complex is the gold standard for summer — private bungalows, impeccable service, and the Encore Beach Club next door. The resort's indoor connectivity is limited but the quality of the air-conditioned spaces is unmatched.
The Desert Inn Hotel and Casino occupied this site from 1950 until its demolition in 2001. The Desert Inn was one of the most exclusive resorts in early Vegas — Howard Hughes lived in the penthouse for four years before buying the property in 1967. Steve Wynn acquired the Desert Inn site in 2000 and demolished it to build Wynn Las Vegas, which opened April 28, 2005. Encore, the sister property, opened in December 2008.
High rollers, celebrities, and anyone who wants the best. The Wynn attracts a mix of serious gamblers (the high-limit rooms are legendary), luxury travelers, and couples celebrating special occasions. The vibe is sophisticated and adult — this is not a party resort, though XS and Encore Beach Club attract a nightlife crowd on weekends.
One of the highest-grossing nightclubs in the world. Indoor/outdoor design with a pool in the center of the dance floor. Top-tier DJ residencies. Consistently ranked among the best nightclubs in the US.
The best dayclub in Vegas. Outdoor pool party with world-class DJs, excellent cabanas, and a production quality that exceeds most nightclubs. Book cabanas well in advance for summer weekends.

Wynn Las Vegas remains the prestige standard on the Strip. The rooms, casino service, dining, and brand cachet are unmatched. In 2026, Encore has a slight edge on the overall guest experience — the suites are larger, Encore Beach Club is the better pool party, and the vibe is slightly more current. But Wynn wins on prestige, classic luxury, and the intangible weight of the name. If you want to say you stayed at the Wynn, there is no substitute.

The new heavyweight on the north Strip. Massive, ultra-modern, and design-forward — Fontainebleau opened in 2023 and has quickly become the new standard for what a megaresort can look and feel like in 2026.

The first new Strip resort in a decade — home to three hotel brands: Las Vegas Hilton at Resorts World, Conrad Las Vegas, and Crockfords. The pool complex is excellent. The North Strip location is the trade-off.
