Overall Rating
Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa is the best off-Strip resort in Las Vegas — and it is not particularly close. Located 20 minutes west of the Strip at the base of the Spring Mountains, Red Rock offers something no Strip resort can: views of Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area from the pool and many guest rooms.
The resort is smaller than the Strip megaresorts (796 rooms) but the quality is exceptional. The rooms are among the best in the valley. The pool complex is excellent. The casino is the best locals casino in Las Vegas — lower table minimums, a better rewards program, and a more relaxed atmosphere than the Strip. The dining collection is strong for an off-Strip property.
The trade-off is obvious: you need a car or rideshare to do anything on the Strip, and that adds cost and time to every outing. But if you are renting a car, hiking Red Rock Canyon, and want a base that is quieter and more affordable than the Strip, Red Rock is the answer.
Red Rock offers exceptional rooms, a great pool, and an excellent casino at prices significantly lower than comparable Strip properties. The resort fee is lower, parking is free, and the table minimums are more accessible. For the quality, it is the best value in the Las Vegas valley.
Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area is a 15-minute drive from the resort. If you are hiking, rock climbing, or just want to see the desert landscape, Red Rock is the ideal base.
Red Rock is 20 minutes from the Strip. You will need a car or rideshare for everything on the Strip. Budget for this — rideshares add up over a multi-day trip.
Exceptional rooms with mountain or pool views. The 2021 renovation updated finishes throughout. The views of Red Rock Canyon from upper floors are spectacular. The rooms are among the best in the valley.
Three pools with mountain views. Excellent cabanas. Seasonal — typically April through October. The pool is well-maintained and less crowded than Strip pools.
How this resort holds up in peak Vegas summer (June–September)
Red Rock Resort is the best summer escape from the Strip. The pool complex is excellent and significantly less crowded than Strip pools. The Red Rock Canyon backdrop is stunning. The 25-minute distance from the Strip means you need a car, but the trade-off in crowd levels is worth it.
Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa opened April 18, 2006, developed by Station Casinos. It was the first major resort built specifically to serve the growing residential communities in Summerlin. The resort was designed to complement the natural landscape of the Spring Mountains.
Locals who want a resort experience without the Strip crowds. Visitors who are hiking Red Rock Canyon. Guests who want excellent rooms at a lower price than the Strip. Golfers (multiple courses nearby).
The best nightclub in the off-Strip market. Intimate compared to Strip mega-clubs, with a more local crowd and lower cover charges. A good option for guests who want a nightclub experience without the Strip prices.

Red Rock is the best off-Strip resort in Las Vegas. The rooms are exceptional, the pool is excellent, and the casino is the best locals casino in the valley. The trade-off is the location — you need a car. For guests who are renting a car, hiking Red Rock Canyon, or want a quieter, more affordable alternative to the Strip, Red Rock is the answer.
