ARIA Resort & Casino
The most technologically sophisticated resort on the Strip. The rooms are exceptional. The casino is serious. The pool is excellent. The location is slightly south of center.
"The Manhattan skyline replica is the best exterior on the Strip. The interior is a labyrinth. The roller coaster is still running."
Overall Rating
New York-New York opened in January 1997 with a replica Manhattan skyline that remains the most recognizable exterior on the Strip. The Statue of Liberty, the Brooklyn Bridge, the Chrysler Building — all at about one-third scale, all illuminated at night, all genuinely impressive from Las Vegas Boulevard.
The interior is a different story. The casino floor is designed to look like New York City streets, which means it is deliberately confusing to navigate. The rooms were renovated in 2019 and are solid. The dining collection is better than you expect — Shake Shack, Gallagher's Steakhouse, and a decent food court. The Big Apple Coaster still runs around the exterior of the building.
New York-New York is a solid mid-tier resort with an exceptional exterior and a confusing interior. The south Strip location — directly across from MGM Grand, near T-Mobile Arena — is good. The Walk Score is middling. For MGM Rewards members who want a south Strip address at a lower price than ARIA or Park MGM, it is a legitimate choice.
The Manhattan skyline replica is the most recognizable exterior on the Strip. At night, with the Statue of Liberty lit up and the Brooklyn Bridge in the foreground, it is genuinely impressive. Worth a walk-by even if you are not staying here.
The casino floor is designed to look like New York City streets, which means it is deliberately confusing to navigate. You will get lost. This is by design.
Solid after the 2019 renovation. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Upper floor Strip views are excellent. The theming in the hallways (designed to look like New York City streets) is either charming or disorienting depending on your perspective.
How this resort holds up in peak Vegas summer (June–September)
The covered walkway to MGM Grand is a summer essential — it's one of the better indoor connections on the south Strip. The pool is too small to be a summer destination. The casino floor is well air-conditioned and a decent escape from the heat.
New York-New York opened January 3, 1997, developed by MGM Grand Inc. and Primadonna Resorts. The exterior replica of the Manhattan skyline was designed to be visible from the Strip and from the air. MGM Grand acquired full ownership in 2000.
MGM Rewards members who want a south Strip address at a lower price. Guests attending events at T-Mobile Arena or Allegiant Stadium. Families who want the roller coaster experience. The vibe is casual and tourist-oriented.

The most technologically sophisticated resort on the Strip. The rooms are exceptional. The casino is serious. The pool is excellent. The location is slightly south of center.

The biggest casino resort in Vegas. The biggest casino floor. The most restaurants. The most rooms. The most everything. Also the most walking.

The former Monte Carlo reinvented itself as a lifestyle resort. The smoke-free casino is a genuine differentiator. Eataly is the best food hall in Vegas.
